Have we gotten a chance to meet yet at a Farmers’ Market?
Those moments may have felt brief amidst the market's hustle, but that time together meant a lot to us. We genuinely want to bridge the gap and invite you into our world. Here, you'll see the passion that drives us—the hands nurturing the harvests you've come to enjoy. We take immense pride in growing produce and baking the bread that graces your tables and adds flavor to your days. Let's journey together beyond market stalls; join us as we blend our love for farming with the stories and connections you bring.
Welcome to the heart of our farm, where we aim to deepen our shared appreciation for fresh, wholesome goodness.
Hello neighbor! I’m Ryan, co-owner of Enumclaw Farm, Dreamer, Sourdough Baker, Beekeeper and steward of 5 acres of Enumclaw paradise. Please allow me to introduce myself and dig a bit deeper into the history that made me who I am.
For starters, I was diagnosed with AML Leukemia at 18 months old and given a snowballs chance in **** to live past two. Desperately clinging to the life of their son, my parents enrolled me in an experimental procedure, shocking my whole body with high levels of radiation, with the hope of killing the cancer in my blood and sparing me in the process. My brother Dylan was four years old at the time, unaware of the turmoil in our family. And while he may not have known what was happening, Dylan became a hero by donating his lifeblood, his bone marrow, saving my life.
I wish I could say the hardship ended there… but it didn’t. Over time, the effects of chemo and radiation took hold and I survived four more fights with cancer.
The question is… Why did I survive?
In short, it’s because I’m a dreamer and somewhere along my healing journey I discovered an ancient wisdom that “Food is Medicine”. And so I dreamed of owning a farm to grow my own medicine. I learned about a new type of farming that could heal the soil and the lives of the people that eat from it. With Enumclaw Farm I found my life’s purpose. So it is with this purpose that I strive to grow and produce real food, by hand, in the absence of chemicals, with care for myself, you and the people you love.
Sincerely,
Farmer Ryan
Hello and welcome! I’m Lauren the other half of Enumclaw Farm!
I found farming through Ryan and my passion has developed overtime. I did not have a farming bone in my body and was never used to caring about the quality of food I ate. Looking back I have naive!
Growing up on frozen dinners and bagged or boxed snacks was all I was used to, which led to feeling inept at making my own meals as a young adult so I succumbed to eating fast food and takeout meals. That unhealthy eating catches up with you but it all did a 180 for me when I met Ryan. He shared with me his health struggles and plan to take control back through the food he ate. He made slow food and it tasted SO GOOD! Like tomato sauce from scratch to accompany homemade pasta. A ramen noodle dish with rich bone broth and tangy fermented veggies - all so EPIC, I’m drooling thinking about it even now! He got me hooked on the ideas of instead of watching chefs on TV making delicious food, why not take action and grow the beautiful produce to then make our own yummy meals!? I’m lucky he still cooks the majority of our meals that I get to enjoy.
Since then I’ve gotten my hands dirty planting in community, backyard and patio gardens. Tending to the soil and the plants and it feels special when we can cook with ingredients that we trust and know are better than organic.
Being outside and connected with the land, the pollinators and the seasons now holds a special place for me and I want to share that! So for me that’s when building Enumclaw Farm became my purpose. Not everyone has the means and access to quality real food so that’s why we’re here to grow, harvest and offer the freshest unadulterated real food that will bring you joy and help you take control as well. ✨
Happy to have you here with us!
